Responsibilities: The Oracle DBA will
provide data base administration support and guidance
to database and application development personnel on
the use and administration of Oracle DBMS software,
implement and maintain Oracle database structures, monitor
and tune Oracle database environments for improved system
performance, ensure integrity and recoverability of
Oracle database structures, migrate application data
structures across multiple database platforms, and provide
guidance and recommendations for efficient use of database
resources. The DBA shall provide guidance and assistance
in the development, maintenance, administration and
enforcement of Oracle database management standards
and guidelines. The DBA shall participate in walkthroughs
and conduct DBA training and presentations. The DBA
must have expert technical knowledge and demonstrated
experience in the Oracle relational database management
system (RDBMS).
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate posses the following
knowledge, skills and experience at a minimum:
- Substantive (5+ years) experience providing database
administration services in a Unix based Oracle database
environment.
- Minimum two years experience with Oracle 9.x
- Expertise in Unix shell and Perl scripting.
- Experience with Solaris 8 and/or Solaris 9.
- Expertise with physical database design issues.
- Expertise with SQL tuning and SQL development
- Expertise with database backup and recovery issues
including hot backup scenarios
- Expertise in Oracle instance configuration and
tuning
- Experience with Oracle Recovery Manage (RMAN) and
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Experience with the CA AllFusion data modeling
tool
- Experience leading and conducting technical reviews
of physical database models.
- Experience participating as a subject matter and
technical expert in technical reviews of physical
tabase models.
- Experience creating and providing design artifacts
for technical reviews of physical database models.
- Demonstrate past DBA experience with other large
corporate/government agencies through a portfolio
of experiences and references to those clients.
The following are desired candidate knowledge, skills
and experience:
- Experience in management of Very Large Databases(VLDB)
of 250 GB or greater.
- Experience with Veritas products for Oracle.
